Why your role matters

The Team Leader, Academic Engagement leads one of four specialist Academic Engagement teams within the Information Services Department, delivering consistent, high-quality Library services that support the University’s education, research and engagement goals. The role works closely with Faculties, Schools, academics, researchers, HDR candidates and students to promote Library services, connect users with relevant resources, and deliver teaching and learning support aligned with the Library’s Digital Information Skills Framework. The position also evaluates client feedback to support user-focused service improvements, collaborates across the Library matrix to develop tailored services, and represents the Library on relevant University committees and School or Centre forums.

The role reports to the Associate Director, Academic Engagement and has between three and five direct reports, depending on the subject area.

About You

- A relevant degree from a higher education or research institution, with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.



Eligibility for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated organisational experience to manage and lead a professional Library team in a dynamic and complex working environment.
- Demonstrated experience in leading the planning and delivery of digital literacy workshops, consultation services, and outreach services.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, analysing and evaluating delivery of high-quality library information services.
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to influence and sustain relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team and across units, and to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- Sound understanding of information management issues and challenges facing academic and research libraries as well as an understanding of issues, trends and leading practice in digital pedagogy.
- Demonstrated experience using innovative technologies to enhance library services for digital information literacy and teaching.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims,



objectives and Values in Action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
