At Fraser Coast Regional Council our people are our most important asset and central to achieving our purpose of Building Better Communities Together.
We're looking for multiple team members to help build and maintain Council’s roads and drainage systems, making sure our work is safe, high‑quality and cost‑effective.
This is a hands‑on job. You’ll carry out day‑to‑day road and drainage maintenance, respond to urgent work when needed, and operate Council plant, vehicles and tools safely.
What Your Day Will Look Like
- Deliver road construction and maintenance works—including pothole repairs, pavement and shoulder maintenance, drainage works and bitumen patching.
- Assist with traffic control implementation in accordance with approved traffic schemes and safety requirements.
- Safely operate and maintain Council vehicles, plant, tools and equipment, including pre‑start checks and basic maintenance.
- Work effectively within and across teams, supporting task delivery and contributing to continuous improvement.
- Apply safe systems of work at all times, including WHS obligations, hazard identification, chemical handling and working in public environments.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service in the field, escalating issues through the Team Leader when required.
- Use Council’s works management and corporate systems to accurately record work completion, timesheets and service requests.
We Are Looking For Candidates Who Have
- Prior experience in outdoor operations, construction, maintenance, or a similar field.
- Experience operating machinery, power tools, or heavy vehicles.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., traffic control, chainsaw operation, machinery licences).
- The ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a team environment.
- A strong understanding of workplace safety and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Physically fit and enthusiastic about outdoor work and manual tasks.
- Queensland General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card).
- Willingness to undergo a police check.
- Current MR licence and willingness to work locations across Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Tiaro and Oakhurst.
We understand that not all candidates will meet every selection criterion. If you have the right approach and the ability to contribute effectively, we welcome your application.
