Lead Anaesthetic Services While Continuing Your Clinical Practice Latrobe Regional Health is seeking an experienced Specialist Anaesthetist to join its growing team as Deputy Director of Anaesthetics .

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant Anaesthetist looking to take the next step into clinical leadership, service development and medical workforce management , while continuing to maintain a rewarding specialist clinical practice.

Working closely with the Director of Anaesthetics, you will help provide clinical leadership and operational oversight of the Anaesthetics Department, supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality and efficient anaesthetic services to the Gippsland community.

The position is offered on a part-time fixed-term basis .

The Chance

- Clinical leadership across the Anaesthetics Department
- Delivery of safe, high-quality and patient-centred anaesthetic services
- Workforce planning, rostering and resource allocation
- Clinical governance, quality assurance and risk management
- Development and implementation of clinical standards, policies and protocols
- Recruitment, onboarding, supervision and professional development of medical staff
- Education and mentoring of anaesthetic registrars, junior doctors and medical students
- Service planning and development
- Research, innovation and continuous quality improvement




- Strengthening multidisciplinary collaboration across perioperative services

The Department

You’ll work alongside an experienced team of anaesthetists and multidisciplinary clinical professionals, with the support of the Director of Anaesthetics and broader hospital leadership.

The role provides an opportunity to combine senior clinical practice with meaningful departmental leadership , helping develop workforce capability, clinical standards and contemporary models of perioperative care.

For an Anaesthetist looking to broaden their leadership experience, this position offers exposure to clinical governance, workforce strategy, service development and medical education .

About You

We are seeking an experienced Specialist Anaesthetist with a strong commitment to clinical excellence and collaborative leadership.

You Will Ideally Have

- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA)
- Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia/AHPRA, or eligibility to obtain specialist registration
- Demonstrated specialist-level clinical experience in Anaesthesia
- Experience or demonstrated capability in clinical leadership
- Understanding of clinical governance, quality improvement and patient safety




- Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work effectively with medical, nursing, allied health and executive teams
- Commitment to education, training, research and professional development
