Senior Change Manager - Finance & Operations Transformation

We're partnering exclusively as an agency with a leading professional services firm to appoint a Senior Change Manager to lead the people side of a major Finance & Operations transformation. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, hybrid working (up to 3 days in office), based in Sydney or Melbourne.

This role is built for a practitioner who brings that instinct to everything they do. You'll own the end-to-end change strategy and delivery across a multi-stream roadmap, ensuring change is designed around impacted people, executable alongside business-as-usual, and measured by genuine adoption outcomes.

You'll partner closely with senior leaders and teams to align vision with action, ensuring new tools and ways of working are adopted with confidence and clarity.

What you'll do

- Own the change strategy and translate it into sequenced, realistic plans that the function can execute alongside BAU, focused on impacted people and adoption outcomes.
- Lead change activity across all streams: target operating model and agentification, governance/risk/controls, reporting & insights, and ways of working, from stakeholder engagement through to adoption.
- Assess who is impacted and how this differs by group; shape the approach around those differences; test readiness before each launch; and stay close through go-live until new processes are stable.
- Own the communication plan and produce explicit, effective communications aligned to corporate affairs standards, firmwide policy changes, function-level updates, and leader briefings.

- Design and deliver training that builds genuine capability, including AI and agent fluency for finance practitioners; equip people leaders and AI Champions to lead change in their own teams.
- Drive adoption of new systems, dashboards, automated processes and agents; retire legacy reports, manual workarounds and outdated guidance as new ways of working land.
- Listen through pulse checks and team sessions; surface resistance early and work through it; then define, measure and report the metrics that prove adoption is real, and act on what they show.
- Identify adoption risks, issues and dependencies early; elevate where needed; and own mitigations, including where this program intersects with the firm's AI prioritisation and other enterprise initiatives.
- Sequence change activity across the roadmap so impacted teams can absorb it; flag where initiatives collide; report readiness and adoption performance into governance/steering committees; and hand initiatives to BAU with clear ownership and support.
- Prepare sponsors and senior leaders to make decisions and speak credibly to their teams; build trusted relationships with function leaders, initiative owners and teams through consistent delivery.

What you'll bring

- Extensive experience in change management across strategy,

design and delivery phases.
- Proven track record delivering complex change initiatives and driving adoption at scale, ideally within finance, operations or other corporate functions.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior executives, building trusted relationships that hold through difficult conversations.
- Strong experience designing and delivering capability uplift programs for teams.
- Comfort running change across a portfolio of many concurrent initiatives at different stages of maturity, prioritising where change effort will matter most.
- Credibility with senior leaders, grounded in clear communication, sound judgement and consistent delivery.
- Pragmatic problem-solving and the ability to navigate organisational complexity without getting stuck.
- Accountability for adoption, delivery and measurable business impact.
- Excellent communication skills—able to simplify complexity and bring people with you.
- A genuinely people-centred approach, with a focus on employee experience and engagement throughout change.

Desirable skills

- Comfort working across diverse operating models and change contexts.
- Curiosity about how AI and emerging technology are reshaping change practice, with the ability to apply global thinking to local execution.

Package & location

- 12-month fixed-term contract
- Hybrid working (up to 3 days in office)
- Sydney or Melbourne (location preference considered for the right candidate)
- Competitive package to $200k $210k (depending on experience)
