Rankin Ellison Lawyers is looking for an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to join our Workers Compensation Insurance practice in Newcastle.

About the Role

You will manage a caseload of Workers Compensation matters, advising clients directly and taking a lead role in progressing files to resolution. This is an opportunity for an experienced Workers Compensation practitioner to take on greater ownership within a firm that gives its senior lawyers real autonomy.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Critically analysing factual and medicolegal evidence to provide legal advice within strict, specified timeframes and in line with service standards.
- Building and maintaining client relationships through open, timely communication on matter progress and developments.
- Progressing matters toward timely, cost-effective outcomes on the best available terms for clients.
- Coaching and mentoring junior lawyers and support staff.
- Maintaining current knowledge of relevant legislation, case law and regulatory developments in Workers Compensation.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A recognised law qualification and eligibility to hold a current NSW Practising Certificate.
- 5+ years PQE in Workers Compensation matters, with thorough, current knowledge of the relevant law.
- Strong analytical, drafting and communication skills, with close attention to detail.
- Sound personal organisation and time management,



with the ability to work independently and exercise initiative.
- The interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, insurers, employers, peers and support staff.
- A track record of coaching and developing more junior lawyers and support staff.
- A genuine commitment to ongoing professional development.
