OVERVIEW Griffith University is seeking a Director for the Griffith Asia Institute in a full-time fixed-term appointment for five years. The institute is an internationally recognised research centre within Griffith Business School with a focus on asia and the pacific. This leadership role is based primarily at Gold Coast or brisbane South (Nathan) and involves strategic leadership, partnership development, governance oversight, and strengthening regional engagement. The Director will guide the institute’s strategic direction while supporting interdisciplinary research and engagement across government, industry, universities, donors, and communities. The position requires leadership across academic, policy, and public-facing activities connected to asia and the pacific region.

Key responsibilities

- Lead the Griffith Asia Institute as an internationally recognised research centre
- Set the strategic direction of the institute
- Lead interdisciplinary research initiatives
- Develop and strengthen regional partnerships across asia and the pacific
- Expand policy engagement and public engagement activities
- Oversee governance and resource management for the institute
- Strengthen relationships with universities, governments, industry, donors, and communities
- Support the institute’s engagement within Griffith Business School
- Contribute to the institute’s regional and international profile





Requirements

- Ability to lead an internationally recognised research institute
- Capacity to provide strategic direction and leadership
- Experience supporting interdisciplinary research activities
- Ability to build and maintain regional partnerships across asia and the pacific
- Experience engaging with universities, governments, industry, donors, and communities
- Ability to oversee governance and resources within an institute setting
- Availability for a full-time fixed-term appointment
