The opportunity
n
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to act as the technical authority on a major construction site and lead on-site design coordination, managing the engineering team, and ensuring design information is accurately translated into construction outcomes
n
You will manage RFIs, shop drawing approvals, inspection hold points, and design-related issues, working closely with the Project Manager, Design Manager, and consulting team to maintain technical integrity and program momentum.

Key responsibilities
n
n
- Manage on-site design coordination, including RFI preparation, submission, and tracking.
n
- Lead the review of shop drawings, technical submittals, and design documentation for compliance and constructability.
n
- Manage the inspection and test plan register, including hold point notification, inspection coordination, close-out, and related engineering deliverables such as as-built documentation, inspection records, and technical registers.
n
- Coordinate with consultants, the Design Manager, and subcontractors to resolve design queries and technical issues on site
n
- Lead and direct site engineers in day-to-day technical functions, inspections, and quality records.
n
- Identify and document design-related variations and provide technical input to the Project Manager for EOT and claims purposes.
n
- Maintain the design register and ensure design information is current, distributed, and actioned across the site team.

Requirements
n
Experience and qualifications
n
n
- 8+ years' experience in engineering or technical management within the building construction industry.
n
- Solid understanding of structural, civil, or building services design documentation and approval processes.
n
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
n
- Proficiency in document management platforms, BIM coordination tools, and RFI management systems.
n
- Technically rigorous with strong engineering knowledge across multiple building disciplines.
n
- Methodical and disciplined in managing design documentation, RFIs, inspection records, and related engineering deliverables.
n
- Collaborate with designers, subcontractors, and the broader project team.
n
- Strong communicator who can translate technical information clearly for non-technical audiences.
n
- Proactive in identifying and escalating design issues before they impact the program or quality.
n
