Sante Recruitment is currently seeking Emergency Medicine Registrars and Principal House Officers to join the Emergency Department at Mackay Base Hospital on a temporary full-time basis.

The Opportunity

As an Emergency Medicine Registrar or Principal House Officer, you will be part of a busy multidisciplinary Emergency Department providing care to patients across the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.

You will have the opportunity to develop your clinical skills across a broad range of adult and mixed Emergency Medicine presentations while working alongside experienced Emergency Physicians and senior medical staff.

The Role Involves

- Providing high-quality clinical care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Assessment, diagnosis and management of acute and undifferentiated presentations.
- Participating in the ongoing provision and development of Emergency Department services.
- Working collaboratively with Emergency Physicians, registrars, junior medical staff, nursing and allied health teams.
- Participating in clinical handover, education and departmental activities.
- Contributing to quality improvement, clinical governance and patient safety initiatives.
- Supporting the education and supervision of junior medical staff where appropriate.
- Participating in rostered shifts across the Emergency Department.

About the Emergency Department

Mackay Base Hospital Emergency Department is a busy regional Emergency Department providing care to the Mackay and surrounding communities.

The Department Comprises

- 21 acute treatment bays
- 2 resuscitation bays
- 4 high-dependency bays
- 12 consultation bays
- 14-bed Short Stay Unit





The Emergency Department is an Adult/Mixed Non-Major Referral Base Emergency Department for the Mackay Hospital and Health Service.

Importantly for doctors seeking Emergency Medicine training, the department provides a strong education and training environment.

Training Opportunities The Department Is

- Accredited by ACEM for Specialist Fellowship Training
- An ACEM Tier 3 training site
- Accredited for up to 12 months of Emergency Medicine training
- An ACRRM Advanced Skills Training Site
- A RACGP Core Generalist Training site

The department also offers foundational, intermediate and advanced ACEM Associate Training programs in Emergency Medicine.

About You

We are seeking doctors who are enthusiastic about Emergency Medicine and committed to developing their clinical skills.

Applicants Should

- Be a medical practitioner in their fourth or subsequent year of practical experience following eligibility for full registration.
- Hold, or be eligible for, AHPRA registration.
- Have demonstrated interest in Emergency Medicine.
- Possess strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate a commitment to patient-centred care and clinical safety.
- Be committed to ongoing education and professional development.
- Be interested in pursuing or progressing ACEM Emergency Medicine training, where applicable.
