Job Description
Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
n
We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more accurate science-capable AI — and we need expert biochemists to make it happen. As a Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert, your deep knowledge of molecular biology, enzyme kinetics, metabolic pathways, and structural biology will directly shape how AI reasons about life sciences.
n
About The Role
n
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for PhD-level scientists who want to apply their expertise beyond the bench — no AI background required.
n
n
- Organization: Alignerr
n
- Type: Hourly Contract
n
- Location: Remote
n
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
n
n
What You'll Do
n
n
- Design Challenging Problems — Craft advanced biochemistry questions spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, drug-target interactions, and more to rigorously stress-test AI reasoning.
n
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write precise, step-step technical responses that serve as gold-standard benchmarks for AI scientific reasoning.
n
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, scientific soundness, and logical consistency.
n
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify and document errors in AI logic — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry,
or misapplied enzyme kinetics — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.
n
n
Who You Are
n
n
- Advanced Degree — PhD completed or in final stages in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
n
- Deep Domain Knowledge — Strong expertise in one or more core areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics.
n
- Explicit Technical Communicator — Able to explain complex biochemical and chemical concepts in precise, well-structured written form.
n
- Detail-Oriented — High accuracy when reviewing chemical equations, reaction mechanisms, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols.
n
- No prior AI experience required — your scientific expertise is what matters.
n
n
Nice to Have
n
n
- Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review
n
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
