About This Opportunity

The University of Queensland’s Institute of Modern Languages is seeking expressions of interest from casual academics to be engaged on a casual basis. Casual Academics make a rich and important contribution to the Institutes’ language teaching and community engagement endeavours through the provision of a range of academically focused services and activities.

- Teaching
- Personalised Tutoring
- Development of teaching materials
- Exam Marking
- Preparation of lesson plans
- Report writing and other associated duties

What We Can Offer

These are casual academic appointments. As such, there is no firm advance commitment to ongoing or indefinite work. The casual rate will vary depending on the type of work completed. Eligibility

You must have work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

Qualifications

- A Bachelor level degree or other qualification in teaching, education, TESOL, languages or linguistics. Or a certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.
- Native speaker or native‑like proficiency in the target language.
- Ability to develop programs for specific language learning purposes.
- Ability to evaluate & assess student progress.
- Knowledge of current practices in language teaching methodology.
- General or Language teaching experience.

Knowledge and Skills

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adopt a flexible approach to teaching style in response to student needs.
