Make a Meaningful Difference Through Volunteering
Could you spare an hour each week or fortnight to bring companionship, connection, and friendship to an older person in your local community?
We are seeking volunteers across Sydney's Northern Beaches, including Manly, Dee Why, Brookvale, Narrabeen, Mona Vale, Newport, Avalon, Frenchs Forest, Belrose, and surrounding suburbs to visit older people living at home who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation.
As a volunteer, you might:
- Enjoy a chat over a cup of tea
- Take a short walk together
- Listen to music and share stories
- Look through photos and reminisce about life experiences
- Simply provide regular friendship and social connection
What's involved?
- A minimum 6-month commitment
- Weekly or fortnightly visits
- Visits on the same day and time each visit to build a meaningful connection
- Versatile visiting times between 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday to Sunday
- Visits take place in the older person's home within your local community
No special skills or experience are required. We're looking for volunteers who are kind, reliable, patient, and enjoy spending time with others.
Please note: This role is a volunteer companionship opportunity and is not suitable for placement requirements, internships, or work experience purposes.
Just one hour of your time can make a lasting difference in someone's life while providing a rewarding volunteering experience for you.
We'd love to hear from you if you're interested in becoming a volunteer companion in your local community.
Your impact
Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience,
both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
