RentBuyIt is a fast-growing vehicle rent-to-own business helping individuals and businesses access reliable vehicles through flexible ownership programs.
We’re looking for an experienced Collections Officer to manage overdue payments and customer accounts across our commercial and private customer portfolio.
This is a hands-on collections role. You’ll work directly with customers to resolve missed payments, manage payment arrangements and take appropriate action when accounts remain outstanding.
Previous collections experience is significant.
The Role
You’ll manage collections across the Rent-to-Own program, ensuring missed payments are identified early, customers are followed up and overdue accounts are brought back on track.
Day to day, this includes:
Collections & Arrears
- Monitor payments across commercial and private customer accounts
- Identify missed payments and act quickly
- Manage the daily missed-payment and arrears lists
- Contact customers by phone, email and SMS
- Understand the reason for non-payment and agree on clear next steps
- Negotiate and manage payment arrangements
- Follow up on commitments and agreed payments
- Escalate overdue accounts when required
- Issue formal notices in line with company processes
Customer Account Management
- Manage complex and higher-risk customer accounts
- Work with customers to resolve outstanding debt
- Balance fair customer outcomes with protecting the business
- Maintain accurate records of conversations, commitments and collection activity
- Ensure accounts are managed in line with agreed commercial terms
Reporting & Team Support
- Work closely with finance to manage arrears and debt exposure
- Provide regular updates on overdue accounts, payment arrangements and collection outcomes
- Keep customer records and account notes accurate and up to date
- Support improvements to collection processes and reporting
Additional Team Support
From time to time, you may also help with:
- Customer enquiries and onboarding
- Vehicle registrations and compliance records
- Fines, tolls and insurance claims
- Bringing new vehicles into stock
- Keeping customer and vehicle records up to date
Collections will remain the main focus of the role.
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience in collections or debt recovery.
Experience managing both commercial and private customer accounts would be highly regarded. Experience in automotive finance, vehicle leasing, consumer finance or asset finance would also be beneficial.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in managing arrears, overdue payments and payment arrangements
- Confident having direct and respectful conversations about money
- Firm, fair and persistent with follow-up
- Calm when dealing with difficult or sensitive situations
- Commercially aware and able to identify higher-risk accounts
- Highly organised and accurate with customer records
- Comfortable taking ownership of an account through to resolution
- Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
- Experienced using Salesforce to manage customer accounts and collection activity
