Summary
Our client Treadwell Group Pty Ltd is seeking to add a qualified Motor Mechanic to its professional repair team in Plympton, South Australia. Known for precision workmanship, dependable service and customer trust, the business provides safe, efficient and reliable vehicle repairs. The successful applicant will support workshop operations by performing diagnostics, servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs across a range of light vehicles.
The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using manual inspection and computerised diagnostic equipment.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble engines, transmissions, steering, braking and suspension components.
• Perform scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, oil changes, lubrication and engine tune-ups.
• Test and adjust repaired mechanical components to manufacturer specifications and performance requirements.
• Use service manuals, technical bulletins and diagnostic software when completing repairs and maintenance.
• Conduct post-repair inspections and road tests to verify vehicle performance and roadworthiness.
• Attend vehicle breakdowns and urgent mechanical faults where onsite diagnostics and repairs are required.
• Repair and replace worn or defective mechanical and electrical vehicle components as necessary.
• Apply workplace safety procedures, environmental requirements and relevant automotive industry standards.
• Maintain accurate records of servicing, repairs,
diagnostic findings and replaced vehicle components.
• Inspect vehicle mechanical assemblies to maintain reliability, efficiency and minimise operational downtime.
• Assist apprentices and junior mechanics with repair techniques and complex mechanical tasks.
• Identify required repair work and communicate mechanical findings clearly to appropriate workshop personnel.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safety-conscious workshop environment while completing assigned repair tasks.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
• Hold an AQF Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent recognised automotive mechanical qualification.
• Possess a minimum of 12 months' recent, directly relevant hands-on experience in automotive servicing and mechanical repair.
• Demonstrate strong capability diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical faults across petrol and diesel light vehicles.
• Be proficient using contemporary diagnostic tools, scanning equipment and automotive repair software within a professional workshop environment.
• Have sound knowledge of workplace safety, environmental compliance and quality control requirements applicable to automotive repair operations.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and manage multiple repair tasks within required timeframes.
• Possess effective communication skills for liaising professionally with customers, colleagues, apprentices and other workshop team members.
• Maintain a consistent commitment to workmanship quality, vehicle safety, workshop organisation and reliable completion of assigned repairs.
