Are you a hands-on Data Lead, Data Architect or senior Data Engineering leader ready to take the next step?
This is an opportunity to move into a broader leadership position with responsibility across Data, Architecture and Engineering, while remaining close enough to the technology to provide genuine technical direction.
Hands-on data experience is essential for this role.
You'll be joining an established organisation investing heavily in its internal technology capability, with a particular focus on strengthening its Data function, developing its modern data platform and reducing reliance on external vendors.
The role
You'll take ownership of the direction and capability across Data and Architecture, working with technical teams and senior stakeholders to turn business requirements into practical technology outcomes.
Your remit will include:
- Leading the Data strategy, architecture and roadmap
- Providing hands-on technical leadership across the Data environment
- Leading and developing Data Engineering capability
- Driving the continued development of the Microsoft Fabric platform
- Data pipelines, integration, modelling and platform architecture
- Establishing strong Data governance, quality, ownership and standards
- Enterprise and Solution Architecture
- Setting engineering and architecture standards
- Building internal capability and reducing vendor dependency
- Working closely with Digital, Security and business stakeholders
- Leading technical specialists while remaining sufficiently hands-on to challenge designs and solve problems with the team
What we're looking for
The most important requirement is strong, recent hands-on Data experience.
You could currently be a Data Lead, Lead Data Engineer, Data Architect, Data Engineering Manager or similar and be ready to take on a wider leadership remit.
You'll ideally bring:
- Robust hands-on Data Engineering and/or Data Architecture experience
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric or comparable modern data platforms
- Strong understanding of data pipelines, modelling and integration
- Data governance, quality and security knowledge
- Enterprise and/or Solution Architecture exposure
- Experience leading or mentoring technical teams
- The ability to move between strategy, architecture and technical detail
- Strong stakeholder communication skills
- A desire to progress into broader technology leadership
You do not need to already be operating at Head-of level. This could be an excellent next step for an accomplished Data leader who wants greater ownership and influence while remaining technically involved.
The opportunity
This is a genuine opportunity to shape the Data and Architecture capability, build a strong internal team and influence how technology is delivered across the organisation.
Package: $250k + Super
Location: Inner West, Sydney
Working arrangement: Predominantly onsite
If you're a hands-on Data leader ready for broader ownership across Data, Architecture and Engineering, apply now or contact Mark Harrison at Talent Locker for a confidential discussion.
