About the role
This is a hands-on role suited to a capable marine professional who enjoys customer interaction and vessel operations. The successful applicant will be responsible for safe vessel operation, crew leadership, guest experience, and supporting day-to-day operational requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Operating domestic commercial vessels in accordance with AMSA regulations
- Leading, mentoring, and training crew
- Providing excellent customer service to passengers
- Assisting with vessel preparation, maintenance, servicing, and cleaning
- Supporting stores, pickups, and general operational tasks
- Working weekends as required
About you
- Master <24
- MED 3
- Sound mechanical knowledge, including marine diesel engines
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Reliable, safety-focused, and professional approach
- Newcastle Harbour Certificate of Local Knowledge (desirable or willingness to obtain)
- Small boat handling experience (desirable)
- Experience operating twin-screw vessels (desirable)
