About the role

Atherton Bakehouse is seeking an experienced Pastry Chef/Baker to join our talented team in Atherton, QLD. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday based at our bakery located in Atherton QLD 4883. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality baked goods and pastries that delight our customers and uphold the reputation of our bakehouse. You will work in a fast-paced bakery setting, managing production schedules, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to the creative development of our product range.

What you'll be doing

- Preparing and baking a variety of breads, pastries, cakes and other baked goods.

- Developing and executing recipes with precision, ensuring consistent quality and taste across all products

- Managing ingredient inventory and placing orders to maintain adequate stock levels for daily production

- Operating and maintaining bakery equipment, including ovens, mixers, and other specialised machinery

- Adhering to food safety and hygiene standards, maintaining a clean and organised work environment

- Monitoring baking times and temperatures to ensure products meet quality specifications

- Creating visually appealing presentations and finishes for pastries and decorative items

- Collaborating with team members to meet daily production targets and delivery schedules

- Assisting with training and mentoring junior bakers or kitchen staff as required

- Contributing ideas for new products and seasonal specials to enhance our bakery offerings

What we're looking for

- A recognised qualification in baking, pastry work or a related culinary discipline

- Proven experience of at least 2-3 years working as a baker or pastry chef in a professional bakery setting

- Robust technical knowledge of baking processes, including dough fermentation, lamination, tempering and decorative techniques





- Proficiency with bakery equipment and machinery, with the ability to operate safely and efficiently

- Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and best practices in a commercial kitchen

- Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines

- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, consistent products

- Physical stamina and the ability to work standing for extended periods, lifting and carrying materials regularly

- Creativity and a willingness to innovate within traditional baking practices

- Effective communication and teamwork skills in a collaborative kitchen environment
