Interior Designer – Airbnb & Short-Stay Properties

Superhost Union
Location: ACT, with interstate business travel
Employment type: Full-time
Salary: AUD $78,000–$88,000 per year + superannuation, depending on experience

About us

Superhost Union is a leading Airbnb and short-stay property management company based in Canberra. With over 5,000 guest reviews and more than 98% rated five stars, we have built a strong reputation for exceptional guest experiences and thoughtfully presented properties.

As we continue to grow our Canberra portfolio and expand into interstate markets, we’re looking for a creative, hands-on Interior Designer to help shape our next chapter—creating beautiful, functional spaces that guests love and property owners are proud of.

About the role

Based in the ACT, you’ll take projects from initial brief and furniture layout through to sourcing, procurement, installation coordination and final styling. You’ll also review and improve existing properties as the needs of our interstate operations evolve.

This role suits someone who enjoys both the creative and organisational sides of design and can turn a concept into a guest-ready property within budget and on schedule.

Key responsibilities

- Consult with property owners, business partners and internal teams to understand floor plans, furniture and styling requirements, target guests, budgets and project timelines.

- Assess properties, take measurements and develop practical space plans and furniture layouts that support comfort, circulation and functionality.

- Prepare design concepts, mood boards, colour palettes, furniture schedules and drawings or visual presentations to communicate proposals and obtain approval.

- Select furniture,

soft furnishings, lighting, artwork and accessories that balance style, durability, ease of cleaning, replacement costs and suitability for short-stay accommodation.

- Coordinate furniture and furnishings procurement for new properties within approved budgets, including sourcing suppliers, comparing quotations, placing orders and tracking costs and lead times.

- Organise deliveries, furniture assembly, installation and final styling with suppliers, installers and local operations teams to meet property launch dates.

- Regularly review and update design schemes for existing properties in response to each state’s operational requirements, property condition, guest feedback and local market needs.

- Maintain accurate purchasing records, product specifications, budgets and project schedules, and resolve supply, delivery or installation issues promptly.

- Work with interstate teams and travel for property assessments, installations, styling and project handovers as required.

- Support international sourcing and coordinate with overseas suppliers and logistics providers where required.

About you

- A qualification in interior design, interior decoration or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

- A portfolio demonstrating strong space planning, furniture selection and styling skills, ideally across residential,

hospitality or short-stay accommodation projects.

- Ability to prepare transparent layouts, mood boards and design presentations using relevant design software.

- Practical experience managing furniture sourcing, procurement budgets and installation coordination.

- Strong communication skills and confidence discussing design requirements, presenting recommendations and managing expectations with property owners and business partners.

- Excellent time management and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple properties, competing priorities and firm deadlines.

- A resourceful approach to solving problems, with close attention to detail and reliable follow-through.

- Willingness and ability to undertake interstate business travel.

Highly regarded: Experience in international procurement and international logistics, including overseas supplier communication, freight coordination, import documentation and delivery planning.

What we offer

- An annual salary of $78,000–$88,000 + superannuation, depending on experience.

- The opportunity to see your designs through from concept to fully furnished, guest-ready properties.

- A varied portfolio of projects across the ACT and interstate.

- A role combining creative design, hands-on project delivery and collaboration with property owners and business partners.

How to apply

Apply through SEEK with your CV, portfolio and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience.

Please highlight any Airbnb, short-stay or hospitality projects, along with your experience in furniture procurement, installation coordination and international sourcing or logistics.
