About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist (Commercial & Plant) who will primarily be responsible for overseeing the HR operations of a multinational food manufacturing company based in South-East Melbourne.

Contract: 3–6 months duration (with a possibility of extension or conversion to permanent)

Location: South-East Melbourne

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Partnering: Act as the primary HR advisor for commercial and plant teams, aligning HR strategies with business goals and coaching leaders on performance, counseling, and disciplinary processes.
Full-Cycle Recruitment & Workforce Planning: Manage end-to-end hiring for hourly and salaried roles (from job descriptions and interviews to onboarding), partner on budget planning, and oversee temporary agency staffing.
Employee & Industrial Relations: Provide guidance on employment laws and awards, manage basic workplace investigations, coordinate pay reviews and bonuses, and monitor leave and absenteeism.
Talent Development & Training: Help leaders identify talent gaps, build pipelines,



and organize training and development programs.
Culture, Engagement & Operations: Drive employee engagement initiatives, support internal communications, and handle HR administration including Workday updates, payroll backups, and return-to-work coordination.

About You:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field.
Experience: 5 to 8 years of generalist HR experience within food manufacturing or a similar setting.
Legal & Compliance: Solid understanding of employment legislation and contemporary award interpretation.
Recruitment & Admin: Proven end-to-end recruitment skills combined with solid organizational and coordination abilities.
Communication & Interpersonal: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build rapport across all levels.
Specialized Skills (Preferred): Experience or willingness to learn WorkCover/return-to-work processes, alongside advantageous experience in payroll and HRIS platforms like Workday.
