Head Chef – Café

Location: Sunshine Coast, QLD

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head Chef to join our café team on the Sunshine Coast.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a chef who enjoys working in a busy café environment and takes pride in quality food, consistency and leading a team.

About the Role

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the day-to-day kitchen operation, including:
Leading and managing the kitchen team
Preparing and cooking high-quality café food
Maintaining consistent food quality and presentation
Developing and updating menus and specials
Managing food preparation and kitchen organisation
Ordering stock and managing supplier relationships
Monitoring food costs, wastage and portion control
Maintaining food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards
Training and mentoring kitchen staff
Managing kitchen rosters and ensuring appropriate staffing levels
Maintaining a clean, organised and efficient kitchen
Working closely with management to improve kitchen operations and profitability

About You

We are looking for someone who:




Has previous experience as a Head Chef, Sous Chef or senior chef
Has strong café or hospitality kitchen experience
Is confident leading a team
Has excellent organisational and communication skills
Understands food costing, stock control and wastage
Can work efficiently in a busy service environment
Takes pride in food quality and consistency
Has a strong understanding of food safety requirements
Is reliable, professional and able to work independently
Has a positive attitude and enjoys being part of a team
