About the Role

A Carousel Operator runs heavy-duty, hydraulically or electrically powered cable storage and tensioning systems. They manage the exact storage, transpooling, and laying of heavy power and subsea cables.

Key Responsibilities
Equipment Operation: Control main carousels, loading arms, and tensioners to manage subsea cables during load-out and deployment.
Safety & Monitoring: Monitor cable integrity, speed, and tension levels to prevent damage.
Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on carousel and winch systems.
Team Coordination: Work directly with deck engineers, riggers, and the Shift Supervisor during transpooling and pull-in operations.
HSE Compliance: Adhere strictly to offshore safety regulations, maritime guidelines,



and complete all required safety drills.

Qualification & Experience
Experience: Typically 2–5 years of proven experience in subsea or offshore cable handling.
Certifications: Specialized marine and safety certifications are usually required. Offshore windfarm projects typically require GWO (Global Wind Organisation) certificates (Working at Heights, Sea Survival).
Compliance: Valid offshore medical certificate (e.g., ENG1 or equivalent) and relevant safety tickets (BOSIET / HUET).

Salary range: 80,000 - 90,000 AUD per annum (before tax) plus superannuation
