BDS Mechanical Repairs Aus is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our team and take the next step in their career with a large, privately owned organisation. Based at our Gold Coast Workshop in Arundel, this hands-on leadership role involves overseeing a well-established in office team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the workshop while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
BDS Mechanical Repairs Aus is a leading provider of mechanical, auto-electrical, and welding services across Queensland and Western Australia. With a fleet of more than 160 mobile service units, we deliver dependable on-site and workshop solutions across an extensive service network covering more than 600,000 km².
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Supervisor/Leading hand experience
Relevant trade qualification
Experience in light and heavy vehicles
Robust communication skills
Good people management skills
Ability to manage all aspects of the business effectively
Outstanding workshop, mechanical and diagnostic knowledge
The Job:
Lead and mentor mechanics, apprentices, and trainees
Work in a senior mechanic capacity, leading by example
Allocate daily tasks and manage workflow on the workshop floor
Monitor productivity, job progress, and turnaround times
Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
Ensure tools, equipment, and workshop areas are maintained
Enforce WHS policies and safe work practices
Overlook and correct job cards
Control A/H breakdowns and roster
