Who we are
The Office of the Supervising Scientist (OSS) is a specialist scientific organisation within the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Workplace and Water (Commonwealth). We are responsible for protecting the people and workplace of the Alligator Rivers Region, including Kakadu National Park, from the effects of uranium mining. We conduct environmental research and monitoring around operating and rehabilitated uranium mining sites, participate in and oversee the regulatory process, and develop standards and practices for environmental protection.
The Job
To provide technical support to the Office of the Supervising Scientist through management of equipment, infrastructure and assets,
and support for environmental monitoring and research projects throughout the Alligator Rivers Region, including Kakadu National Park. You will:
Maintain, organise and operate equipment used for environmental monitoring and research, including vehicles, vessels and small assets.
Provide field assistance in delivering monitoring and research projects.
Utilise your skills in maintaining and operating equipment used for field work.
Be a part of a small, energetic team and live and work surrounded by Kakadu National Park. Flexible employment arrangements are available with the Department.
