The Athlete Development Program (ADP) is SCSA’s purpose-built learning workplace for Year 9–12 student-athletes. It integrates education with training, competition, travel and recovery while supporting academic progress and wellbeing. Launching in 2027 with Year 9 and 10 cohorts, it will expand into a complete Year 9–12 pathway.
The Sports Scientist works with coaches, performance staff, educators, health professionals and Advocates to coordinate athlete testing, monitoring and development. The role integrates data, athlete feedback, coaching observations and health information to provide practical, individualised recommendations.
The position leads athlete profiling, assessment, longitudinal analysis and reporting to inform training, recovery and athlete support. It also contributes to interdisciplinary planning, education and service improvement.
The role primarily supports ADP Football and Basketball at T.K. Shutter Reserve and The ARC Campbelltown, with travel between SCSA and partner facilities.
One full time position is available from January 2027 on an ongoing or fixed-term basis.
The successful candidate may also support SCSA’s Sports Immersion Program and Adelaide United Identified Player Program.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Lead an integrated sport science service supporting athlete performance, wellbeing and long-term development.
Coordinate age-appropriate testing, monitoring, profiling and reporting across load, readiness, recovery and maturation.
Analyse athlete data alongside feedback, observations, health, education and external sporting demands to guide practical recommendations.
Collaborate with athletes, families and multidisciplinary stakeholders to support coordinated planning and decisions.
Align school, club, representative and ADP demands, identifying concerns around load, recovery and readiness.
Develop transparent profiles, reports and dashboards that translate data into meaningful actions.
Coordinate GPS and performance analysis across SCSA and partner environments where required.
Maintain standards for testing, equipment, data quality, privacy, ethics and athlete-management systems.
Support athlete education, staff development, technology integration and service improvement.
Supervise assistants, interns and students while supporting testing and program delivery.
