About the Role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated Heavy Vehicle & Agricultural Mechanic to join their maintenance team.
This role requires a versatile tradesperson capable of maintaining and repairing a diverse range of equipment, from heavy transport vehicles to specialized agricultural machinery.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong diagnostic skills, technical expertise across multiple mechanical systems, and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic, quick-paced environment.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Diagnostic & Repair Services
Conduct comprehensive diagnostic assessments to identify mechanical and electrical faults in engines, transmission systems, and complex vehicle components using advanced computerised testing equipment
Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other critical components,



conducting thorough inspections and measurements to assess wear and damage
Repair and replace worn and defective parts, reassembling mechanical components to manufacturer specifications while referring to technical service manuals and engineering guidelines
Perform detailed testing and adjustment of mechanical systems after repairs to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with operational standards
Preventative Maintenance & Servicing
Execute scheduled maintenance services including oil changes, lubrication services, and engine tune-ups to ensure vehicle reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with emission regulations
Reassemble engines and mechanical systems following repair or overhaul, ensuring all components meet specified tolerances and performance requirements
Conduct vehicle inspections and assessments, determining roadworthiness and detailing work required to achieve compliance with regulatory standards and safety requirements
Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and emergency repairs, implementing effective solutions to minimise operational downtime and maintain fleet availability
Technical Expertise & Workshop Operations
Apply advanced technical skills across various engineering competencies including welding, fabrication,



and machining to support equipment maintenance and modification requirements
Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and maintenance histories for all equipment, ensuring comprehensive tracking of repairs and servicing activities
Collaborate with operational teams to prioritise maintenance activities and coordinate repair schedules to minimise impact on production and logistics operations
Continuously update technical knowledge and skills to keep pace with evolving technology in heavy vehicle and agricultural machinery systems
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Formal trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or Agricultural Mechanic is essential
Proven post-qualification experience in a similar role, preferably within transport, agriculture, or FMCG industries
Demonstrated experience working with heavy vehicles, agricultural machinery, or industrial equipment
Essential Skills & Attributes
Comprehensive technical skill set across multiple engineering disciplines including welding, fabrication, and mechanical systems
Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a demanding workshop environment
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail in all repair and maintenance activities
Proven ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team setting
Commitment to workplace safety with thorough understanding and application of safe work practices
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and respond effectively to emergency breakdown situations
