Role Overview
n
Metso is seeking a confident, capable and proactive Senior Safety Advisor to strengthen HSE at our Karratha Service Centre. This is a permanent, full-time role and will suit someone based in Karratha.
n
This is a hands-on, operationally focused role with a clear priority in the first ***** months: working closely with the site leadership team to build a robust, practical safety foundation and support the shift toward an operations-led safety model.
n
As the site matures and safety becomes more embedded, the role will broaden into Field Services, moving to a 50:50 split between the Service Centre and field-based work. This will include supporting Field Service teams on site and working alongside customers to strengthen safety outcomes and relationships.

What You'll Be Doing
n
Building the Foundation (Service Centre Focus)
n
n
Supporting the Service Centre leadership team to embed an operations-led approach to safety
n
Working alongside supervisors, trades and technicians to build practical, day-to-day safety ownership
n
Assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of safety programs, policies and procedures aligned with Metso, APA and legislative requirements
n
Supporting the ongoing improvement of the HSE Management System within the Repair Centre
n
Conducting audits, inspections and compliance checks to maintain strong safety standards
n
Supporting risk assessments and ensuring effective, practical controls are in place
n
Encouraging safe behaviours and constructively challenging unsafe practices
n
Leading/ supporting with incident investigations and contributing to meaningful corrective actions
n
Supporting safety engagement through conversations, toolbox talks and team forums
n
Maintaining awareness of regulatory requirements and supporting compliance activities
n
n
Broadening into Field Services (Service Centre + Field Focus)
n
n
Supporting Field Service teams on site, working alongside supervisors and technicians in a similar capability building role as service centres
n
Gaining exposure to site-based risks and applying this to strengthen safety practices
n
Supporting interactions with customers to build open and practical safety relationships
n
Applying learnings from the Service Centre to uplift field-based safety outcomes
n
Spending time in the field to understand work and support safe delivery
n
Continuing to support and sustain safety performance at the Service Centre
n

About You
n
You're a practical and approachable safety professional who understands how work gets done on the ground. You're comfortable being out in the workshop, building relationships, and supporting teams to work safely.
n
You're keen to learn, build your experience, and grow your impact over time.
n
You will also bring:
n
n
Experience in HSE or safety roles within mining, manufacturing, workshop, repair or heavy industrial environments
n
Exposure to field service or site-based work environments
n
An operational or trade background with the ability to confidently engage with frontline teams (highly regarded)
n
Working knowledge of WHS legislation and safety management systems
n
Experience supporting audits, inspections and incident investigations
n
Understanding of risk assessments, safe work procedures and controls
n
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and build trust
n
Proficiency in safety systems, reporting tools or willingness to learn
n
Injury management and return-to-work exposure (desirable)
n
Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent (highly regarded)
n
