Job Description
Family Lawyer Part Time - 2 Days Per Week
n
Family Lawyer – Part time with Opportunity to Build a Practice
n
Wilding & Co Lawyers | Sydney | 2 Days per Week | Predominantly Remote
n
Wilding & Co Lawyers is seeking an experienced Family Lawyer with at least 4 years' post-admission experience to take ownership of and develop our family law practice.
n
The position will initially be two days per week, predominantly working remotely, with the opportunity to build the role into a full-time position as the family law practice grows.
n
This is not simply a role managing an allocated caseload. We are looking for someone who wants to run a family law department, develop their own client base and build a substantial practice within an established and growing law firm.
n
The Opportunity
n
You will have primary responsibility for the firm's family law practice and significant autonomy over how it develops.
n
The role includes:
n
Managing family law matters from initial conference through to resolution;
n
Parenting and children's matters;
n
Property and financial settlements;
n
Divorce applications;
n
Consent Orders and Binding Financial Agreements;
n
Negotiations, mediation and dispute resolution;
n
Drafting affidavits, applications, correspondence and court documents;
n
Briefing and working with counsel;
n
Court appearances where appropriate;
n
Developing relationships with clients and referral partners;
n
Contributing to the marketing and growth of the family law practice; and
n
Over time, helping to develop the systems, processes and team required to support a growing family law department.
n
You will have the opportunity to put your own stamp on the practice rather than simply stepping into a narrowly defined employee role.
n
About You
n
We are looking for a lawyer who:
n
Has at least 4 years' post-admission experience, predominantly in family law;
n
Holds a current NSW practising certificate, or is eligible to obtain one;
n
Can confidently manage family law matters with a high degree of autonomy;
n
Has strong drafting, advocacy and negotiation skills;
n
Is comfortable appearing in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia;
n
Is commercially minded and interested in practice development;
n
Enjoys building professional and referral relationships; and
n
Wants the opportunity to grow a family law practice and ultimately make it their own within the firm.
n
This role would particularly suit a family lawyer who has reached the point where they want greater autonomy, responsibility and control over the direction of their practice, without the risk and administrative burden of establishing a law firm from scratch.
n
Working Arrangements
n
The position will initially be two days per week and is predominantly remote.
n
You will attend the office when reasonably required, particularly for initial client appointments, significant conferences and other matters where face-to-face attendance is appropriate.
n
We are flexible about the particular days worked.
n
As the practice and caseload develop,
there is a genuine opportunity for the position to increase from two days per week to three, four and ultimately five days per week.
n
Our objective is to find someone who wants to grow with the practice rather than remain permanently limited to a two-day role.
n
Why This Role?
n
This is an opportunity to:
n
Start with the flexibility of a two-day working week;
n
Work predominantly remotely;
n
Take ownership of an existing family law service offering;
n
Have considerable autonomy over your files and practice;
n
Build your own client and referral relationships;
n
Develop a family law department with the support and infrastructure of an established firm; and
n
Create a pathway to a full-time role as the practice grows.
n
For the right lawyer, there is significant scope to develop this into a substantial long-term position within Wilding & Co Lawyers.
n
Remuneration
n
Remuneration will be negotiated based on experience and the agreed working arrangement.
n
We are interested in finding the right person and are open to discussing a remuneration structure that recognises both the initial part-time role and the growth of the family law practice.
n
Apply
n
Please submit your CV together with a short introduction outlining your family law experience and what you are looking for in your next role.
n
All applications and enquiries will be treated in strict confidence.
