About the Role
n
School Learning Support Officers provides support for students with identified diverse learning needs including disability in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required. In addition School Learning Support Officers may provide specific support for students in the following streams or settings: pre-school, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual.



Student Learning Support Officers working in these streams/settings have specific additional duties, in addition to the general duties for School Learning Support Officers that are required to be performed.

Essential Requirements
n
n
Working with Children Check Clearance
n
Completion of mandatory training required by the Department of Education and a willingness to undertake first aid training relevant to the School Learning Support Officer role.
n
Administration of Medications – training to be provided based on student needs.
n
Health support training to be provided based on student needs (subject to transition provisions).
n
n
Moorebank High School is a agile partially selective and comprehensive high school situated in southwest Sydney. The school has 998 students with 1% of students from an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background and 78% of students from a language background other than English.

In ****, Moorebank High School established a support unit with three autism support classes and will implement a multi-categorical class in ****. The school is committed to extending its students through excellence in teaching and learning and collaboration with its partner primary schools and other comprehensive and selective high schools. The school is seeking a School Learning Support Officer to support a new Multi-Categorical class to be established in ****. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Diverse Learning team and Multi-Categorical classroom teacher to support students with a range of disabilities and additional learning needs, including autism and mild intellectual disability.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.

Awareness of the needs of students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
