An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Software Engineer / Developer to join IP Australia's AI Factory within Business Delivery Services.
n You'll work at the intersection of software engineering, AI and emerging technologies, delivering production capabilities alongside data scientists, machine learning engineers, business analysts and subject matter experts.
n This is an ideal opportunity for a senior developer with strong Python and AWS experience who is interested in applying emerging technologies and AI within a government environment.

Location: Canberra preferred; QLD, VIC, NSW also considered

Working arrangement: Hybrid

Security: Must be able to obtain Baseline

Level: Senior / EL1 equivalent

Hours: Up to 8 hours per day
n

Remote candidates may be considered within the same time zone. Offsite candidates will need to attend the Canberra office for 2-3 days during onboarding, with occasional travel to Canberra thereafter, typically twice and no more than four times per year. Travel is at the candidate's own expense.

What You'll Be Doing
n
n
Develop and deliver software components alongside software developers, data scientists and ML engineers
n
Build and maintain production capabilities within a multidisciplinary Agile team
n
Deliver Proofs of Concept with Subject Matter Experts
n
Develop solutions using AWS, particularly serverless technologies
n
Contribute to the responsible application of AI and emerging technologies
n
Maintain and continuously improve existing production systems
n
Contribute to technical documentation, code quality and development practices
n
n
Essential Technical Experience
n
n
Python
n
AWS, particularly serverless application development
n
Infrastructure-as-Code, preferably AWS CDK
n
CI/CD, particularly AWS CodePipeline
n
DevOps tools and practices
n
Experience delivering and maintaining production software
n
Experience working within multidisciplinary software development teams
n
n
Desirable Experience
n

JavaScript and/or TypeScript
n
Vue.js
n
AI and Machine Learning
n
MLOps
n
Emerging AI technologies

Selection Criteria
n
Candidates will need to demonstrate:
n
n
AWS - 35% Experience building and maintaining solutions using AWS.
n
Python - 35% Experience building and maintaining software using Python.
n
DevOps - 20% Experience delivering software using DevOps tools and practices.
n
Government / Multidisciplinary Experience - 10% Experience working collaboratively within a dynamic, multidisciplinary software development team in a government agency. Each response is limited to 3,000 characters.
