Centennial Homestead is looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.
Located in the heart of Centennial Park, Centennial Homestead is a busy, vibrant venue serving an all-day menu seven days a week, with breakfast and lunch at the heart of our operation.
Alongside our daily service, we host a range of events, including weddings, private functions and special occasions that bring the kitchen to life at night.
We're looking for a Sous Chef who thrives in a rapid-paced environment, takes pride in delivering great food and enjoys being part of a strong, hardworking team.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you'll work closely with the Head Chef to oversee the day-to-day kitchen operation, ensuring consistently high standards across both our restaurant and events.
You'll be responsible for:
Supporting the Head Chef with the daily operation of the kitchen
Leading and motivating the kitchen team during busy services
Ensuring food is prepared and presented to a consistently high standard
Working across our breakfast, lunch and all-day menu
Maintaining strong food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards
Assisting with ordering, stock control and kitchen organisation
Helping train and develop junior chefs




Ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently and smoothly throughout service
Contributing ideas and working with the Head Chef on menus and specials
Assist with financial control reporting (food cost, labour cost).
About You
Is confident leading a team in a busy kitchen
Has excellent organisational and communication skills
Takes pride in quality, consistency and presentation
Can remain calm and composed when the pressure is on
Has a strong understanding of food safety and kitchen procedures
Enjoys working across both restaurant service and events
Is reliable, hands-on and leads by example
Is passionate about hospitality and wants to be part of a great team
