An established Australian organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join its team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, providing maternity leave cover.
About the role
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will support payroll processing for approximately 700 employees across multiple sites.
The organisation operates in a complex industry environment, with employees covered by different Enterprise Agreements and working across weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay cycles.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working through complex payroll matters, can manage competing priorities and is comfortable operating in an environment where processes and systems are continuing to improve.
Key responsibilities
Process and review payrolls across multiple pay frequencies.
Interpret and apply Enterprise Agreement conditions.
Manage complex pay rules, including overtime, rotating shifts, allowances and RDOs.
Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee queries.
Perform manual calculations and payroll adjustments where required.
Support ongoing payroll system improvements and implementation activities.
Work closely with HR,



payroll and site-based stakeholders.
Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
About you
Demonstrated experience in a senior payroll position.
(3-5 years of experience)
Experience processing payroll in a complex, multi-site environment.
Robust understanding of Enterprise Agreements and payroll legislation.
Confident interpreting complex pay conditions and resolving issues.
Resilient, patient and comfortable working through manual processes.
Able to professionally challenge processes and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
Available to commence immediately or within 1–2 weeks.
