What you will be doing:
Virgin Australia is seeking an experienced Manager, Safety Audit to lead the Group's enterprise safety audit program, providing independent assurance over safety performance, risk controls and regulatory compliance.
You will plan and deliver internal safety audits, identify systemic issues and emerging risks, and provide actionable insights that drive continuous improvement.
Working within the Safety Systems Division, you will provide specialist safety assurance and advice to operational leaders, supporting the Board, CEO and Executive with clear visibility of safety, risk and compliance across the Group.
Reporting directly to the Head of Assurance, you will:
Develop, maintain and deliver the enterprise safety audit program
Plan and conduct high quality internal safety audits across the Group
Provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of safety controls and compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements
Identify systemic weaknesses, emerging risks and safety trends
Deliver explicit, insightful audit reports and recommendations to senior stakeholders
Monitor corrective actions and support timely resolution of identified issues
Build strong relationships with operational teams and provide specialist safety assurance advice
Continuously improve audit methodologies, processes and tools
Contribute to a strong, proactive safety culture and improved organisational safety outcomes
Develop and promote a best practice dangerous goods culture throughout Virgin Australia's operations.
You'll be great in this role if you have:
Demonstrated experience in safety auditing, assurance, compliance or risk management, preferably within aviation or another highly regulated environment
Strong understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and safety risk management
Experience planning and conducting internal audits and assessing the effectiveness of controls
Knowledge of aviation safety management and dangerous goods requirements
Excellent analytical, report-writing and communication skills
The ability to identify systemic issues and translate complex findings into practical recommendations
Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the confidence to work with leaders at all levels
A commitment to continuous improvement and delivering meaningful safety outcomes
