Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS) is hiring Disability Support Workers to join our Residential care team in Supported Independent Living in Wollongong NSW.

We have Casual and Part time shifts available:
n
Availability across a 24/7 roster, including morning, afternoon and night is required. Availability for active and sleepover night shifts as needed is essential.
n
Shift durations range from 2hrs - 9hrs.
n
We are looking for experience with:
n
n
Behaviour management
n
Stoma care
n
PEG Feeding
n
Medication administration (including insulin)
n
n
Behaviours of concern you must be confident supporting:
n
This role may involve supporting participants who can display:
n
n
self-injurious behaviours (e.g., head hitting, biting)
n
physical aggression (e.g., grabbing, scratching, striking)
n
property damage (e.g., throwing items, slamming doors)
n
absconding/exit-seeking behaviours
n
sensory-seeking and repetitive behaviours
n
personal care/hygiene complexities
n
n
Key responsibilities
n
n
Follow BSP strategies consistently (including Green/Yellow/Red response)
n
Use low arousal de-escalation and proactive support strategies
n
Provide personal care, hygiene support, and daily living assistance




n
Medication administration (Webster packs) and PRN processes as authorised
n
Complete explicit documentation: shift notes, ABC/behaviour tracking, incident reporting
n
Maintain participant dignity, privacy, and professional boundaries
n
Escalate concerns through the chain: Team Leader House Coordinator ROM (after hours via On-Call)
n

What we're looking for
n
n
SIL experience and confidence with complex behaviours (highly regarded)
n
Strong documentation skills and ability to follow plans precisely
n
Medication competency (or willingness to complete competency assessment promptly)
n
Calm under pressure, consistent, and respectful communication
n
n
Essential requirements:
n
n
NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain immediately)
n
National Police Check
n
First Aid + CPR (current)
n
Must have a reliable car that is insured and have NSW Driver's License (Provisional is acceptable)
n
Minimum Cert IV in Disability / Community Services / Mental Health (or equivalent)
n
Unrestricted Australian work rights
