or you will be supported through the process Why You Will Like Working Here You would join one of the Northern Territory's largest electrical and communications contractors, a locally owned business with close to 150 staff and a trusted name across the Territory.
The team has just come off a major recruitment campaign and is now resourcing the communications side properly, so you arrive with momentum behind you and leaders who understand the work.
The culture is practical and grounded.
Leaders here have come up through the field, so the people making decisions know what the crew sees on site.
You report to the Operations Manager and have genuine technical backing behind you, rather than distant management handing down advice that does not fit the job.
A locally owned NT business with close to 150 staff and a strong reputation across the Territory Leaders who have worked in the field and understand day to day site reality The site sits around ten minutes from the office and fifteen to twenty minutes from anywhere in Darwin, so no bush, no FIFO and no three hour drives A supportive team with regular social events and team barbecues Ongoing training, development and clear progression as the division grows What You Will Be Working On You will lead the delivery of communications and technology infrastructure on a major Defence project, working alongside the Project Manager and reporting to the Operations Manager.
You oversee the Site Supervisor and the delivery team, stay based at the site offices, and walk the job day to day so you can work through problems with the crew rather than from a desk.
Structured cabling, fibre, containment and communications infrastructure across secure Defence environments Overseeing the Site Supervisor and delivery team in partnership with the supervisor Contributing to design review,
technical problem solving and making the design fit on site Planning and coordinating labour, subcontractors, suppliers and long lead equipment Managing budgets, forecasting, risk, testing, commissioning and handover Mentoring communications personnel and lifting experience across the team Physical works ramping up over roughly the next six months, with design work live now What Type of Person Will Be Successful This role suits someone who has done Defence structured cabling for real.
It is a distinct discipline, quite different from commercial cabling or carrier and ISP work, and you will already know if it is you.
You are ready to step up into delivery while keeping your hands on the technical side, and you are comfortable being based on site and leading a team.
If you have worked as a Communications Supervisor, Leading Hand, Technical Lead or similar on Defence sites in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Canberra or elsewhere, and Darwin has ever crossed your mind, we would love to hear from you.
Hands on experience in Defence structured cabling, fibre and communications infrastructure A background as a Supervisor, Leading Hand or Technical Lead, ready to step into delivery Familiarity with secure Defence environments such as SCIFs and Zone 5 areas Australian citizenship, which is essential for this role An existing Defence clearance is a significant advantage, otherwise you will be supported through the process The ability to lead a site team, work through technical problems and contribute to design ACMA registration and fibre endorsements will be highly regarded How to Apply We are growing the communications team and we would love to learn more about you.
