Looking to pick up casual hours while doing something genuinely worthwhile?
We're looking for a casual Regional Liaison Officer to support workers participating in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme in Mildura.
You'll be a trusted local point of contact for workers who have travelled from Pacific Island nations to live and work in Australia – helping them settle into the community, navigate everyday challenges and access practical and wellbeing support when they need it.
It could mean helping someone get to an appointment, checking in on their wellbeing, assisting with accommodation or transport, connecting them with local services or simply being the familiar person they know they can turn to.
Could this role fit around your life?
This could be a great opportunity if you have experience in community services, health, education, disability, aged care, multicultural services or another people-focused role.
This is genuinely casual employment, with hours varying according to worker and seasonal operational needs, so we're looking for someone comfortable with flexibility rather than seeking guaranteed full-time hours.
What you'll be doing You'll: Build trusted relationships with PALM Scheme workers Provide practical, pastoral and wellbeing support Assist with appointments,
transport and accommodation needs Help workers connect with community services and local networks Support workers with workplace and personal matters Advocate for workers and help them access appropriate support Liaise with host employers and the MADEC team Identify and escalate wellbeing or safety concerns Support workplace safety requirements and toolbox meetings Provide occasional after-hours or time-sensitive support when required About you More than anything, we're looking for someone who is reliable, approachable and genuinely enjoys helping people.
You'll ideally bring: Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse people Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Good knowledge of Mildura and the local community Empathy, cultural awareness and sound judgement Confidence working independently and using initiative Strong organisation and problem-solving skills Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email A current driver's licence and willingness to travel locally Because the role can involve responding to unexpected or time-sensitive worker needs, we're particularly looking for someone who is genuinely local to Mildura and able to provide face-to-face support when required.
Why join MADEC?
You'll have the opportunity to do work that is flexible and meaningful – supporting people, building relationships and becoming a trusted part of their experience living and working in Australia.
You'll enjoy: Adaptable casual work that can complement other commitments Meaningful work with genuine community impact A varied mix of practical and wellbeing support Autonomy with the backing of a wider team The chance to work with people from diverse cultures Ongoing training and support If you're community-minded, dependable and looking for casual work with purpose, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply today and help PALM Scheme workers feel supported, connected and part of the Sunraysia community.
