About Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services
Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) serves as the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
Since our establishment in ****, KAMS has provided a unified voice for Aboriginal health and well-being, advocating for community needs and delivering centralised resources in partnership with our Member Services.
Our vision is to empower all Kimberley Aboriginal people to be strong, healthy, and connected through culturally appropriate community-controlled services.

Position Overview
The Tackling Indigenous Smoking Coordinator will be
based in Broome on a Full-time basis
and will report to the Population Health Senior Manager.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a significant regional population health program delivered through KAMS member services.
Working across a geographically diverse network of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services, you will build strong partnerships, strengthen program capacity and ensure TIS activities are responsive to the priorities and needs of Kimberley communities.




The role will provide strategic leadership, program coordination and operational oversight, supporting member services to establish meaningful goals, implement effective activity workplans and deliver outcomes that contribute to reducing tobacco and vape use and increasing awareness of its harmful effects.
You will represent KAMS and its member services across regional, State and national forums, develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships, and provide high-level strategic advice to KAMS Senior and Executive Managers.
You will also oversee program budgets, contractual obligations, evaluation and performance reporting, ensuring the program is effectively governed, accountable and aligned with the principles of Aboriginal Community Control.
Key Responsibilities
Represent KAMS & Member Services in smoking cessation and prevention forums
Contribute as required to submissions, tenders and other plan and report that are organisation based
Ensure compliance with relevant Service Level Agreements and contractual obligations
Develop strong partnerships with member services to ensure the cohesiveness of the program across all IREGS in the Kimberley
Candidate Profile




We are seeking a dynamic and culturally competent professional who is passionate about improving health outcomes for Aboriginal communities through education and prevention.
Highly developed project management skills including facilitation and resourcing of meetings and consultations.
Qualification in community development, project management, population health or related discipline
Ability to lead a population health program which is geographically dispersed and embedded into partner services
High level financial management, reporting and evaluation skills
Commitment to the principles of Aboriginal Community Control and demonstrated knowledge of cultural safety principles and practices
Current National Police Certificate and Western Australian Working with Children's Check.
Salary & Benefits
This position offers a competitive base salary of
$105,843
per annum pro rata, along with additional benefits including:
Accommodation Allowance of
$13,000
per annum pro rata.
Annual Airfare of
$1,285
after 12 months of service.
District Allowance of
$2,920
(single) or
$5,840
(double) per annum pro rata.
Electricity Allowance of
$1,440
per annum pro rata.
Optional Salary Sacrifice up to
$30,000
per annum pro rata.
