We partner with globally recognised equipment manufacturers supporting the aviation, rail and port industries.About the RoleWe are seeking a reliable, safety-focused Trades Assistant to join our workshop team at Western Sydney Airport.Working alongside experienced technicians, you will assist with the servicing, maintenance, repair and preparation of aviation ground support equipment (GSE).
This includes baggage-handling equipment, cargo loaders, aircraft servicing equipment and towing equipment.This position is ideal for someone with practical mechanical experience who enjoys hands-on work and wants to develop their skills in a specialised aviation equipment environment.
For the right person, it offers a pathway into Service Technician and Field Service roles.The RosterDue to operational requirements at the Aiport the Western Sydney team work 365 days a year.
As such this role operates on a 4 days on 4 days off roster from 6am to 6pm.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist technicians with scheduled servicing, maintenance and repairsPerform basic mechanical servicing and preventative maintenance tasksSupport fault-finding, component replacement and equipment repairsPrepare equipment for inspection, delivery and customer handoverConduct basic equipment inspections and complete service documentationSafely operate hand tools,



power tools and workshop equipmentKeep equipment, tools and workshop areas clean and well maintainedSupport workshop and field-service activities when requiredFollow all workplace health, safety and airport security requirementsAbout YouYou will be mechanically minded, dependable and willing to learn.
You will also have:At least one year of professional mechanical or workshop experienceExperience using hand and power toolsStrong attention to detail and pride in the quality of your workThe ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a teamA positive attitude and good communication skillsA strong commitment to workplace safetyPrevious experience as a Trades Assistant, Workshop Assistant, Mechanical Labourer or in a similar hands-on role will be highly regarded.Essential RequirementsAustralian citizenship due to site access and security requirementsCurrent driver's licenceAbility to meet airport security and background-check requirementsWillingness to undertake drug and alcohol testing as requiredA current forklift licence is desirable but not essential.Why Join Freightquip?
