NoOffer DescriptionPancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal malignancies, with a 5-year survival rate less than 13%.
Early detection remains one of the greatest challenges, as patients often remain asymptomatic until they present with advanced, incurable disease.A critical step towards improving patient survival requires a deeper understanding of the earliest events that drive disease development.
However, the origin and pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer remain poorly understood.
Uncovering the biological mechanisms that drive tumour initiation and subsequent growth holds significant promise for improving patient outcomes.This PhD project explores the novel concept that cell fusion between two healthy cells may play a role in the genesis of pancreatic cancer.
With solid preliminary data that cellular stressors can induce spontaneous fusion between normal pancreatic cells,
