Umbrella Care Australia

Hobart

Company Description

Umbrella Care Australia Pty Ltd is a registered NDIS provider delivering practical, person-centered disability support for people of all ages and abilities. The organization supports individuals at home, in the community, and in shared living environments, with a strong focus on safety, dignity, and everyday quality of life. Umbrella Care Australia works alongside Umbrella Therapy Services, an established allied health provider, ensuring support work is informed by clinical insight and evidence-based practice. Support teams are guided by therapeutic frameworks, behavior support plans, and health-informed risk management, so workers are backed by professional supervision rather than working in isolation. This collaborative model offers support workers a structured environment with clear guidance and opportunities for professional growth.

Role Description

This is a casual, on-site Support Worker role based in Hobart, TAS. The Support Worker will provide person-centered assistance to individuals with disability in their homes, in the community, and in shared living environments, supporting daily living activities, personal care, and community participation. Day-to-day tasks include implementing behavior support plans, promoting independence, assisting with household tasks, and supporting clients to attend appointments, therapy sessions, and social activities. The role involves monitoring wellbeing, documenting support provided in line with NDIS and organizational requirements, and communicating effectively with clients, families,

and the broader care team. The Support Worker will collaborate closely with allied health professionals and follow therapeutic and risk management frameworks to ensure secure, respectful, and high-quality support.

Qualifications

- Experience in disability support, community services, aged care, or a related human services field, ideally within NDIS-funded environments.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Demonstrated capability to follow behavior support plans, therapeutic recommendations, and risk management procedures while maintaining client safety and dignity.
- Practical skills in personal care, manual handling, and assisting with daily living activities, including household tasks and community access.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation, follow policies and procedures, and use basic digital tools or client management systems.
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, or equivalent qualification (or progress toward completion); additional training in behavior support or mental health is an advantage.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain), valid driver’s license, and the right to work in Australia.
- Commitment to person-centered practice, safeguarding, and continuous professional development, including openness to supervision and training.
