We're currently seeking Electrical Apprentices across a number of locations, including Albany, Balcatta, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Merredin, Narogin, Northam, Picton, Pinjarra, South Metro Depot (Forrestdale).
n
What Does an Electrical Apprentice Do?
n
During your Electrical Apprentice, you will work towards obtaining a Nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering – Industrial Electrical (MEM31219) which includes meeting the requirements for an Electrical license.
n
You will work alongside experienced tradespeople while developing the technical knowledge and practical skills required to become a qualified tradesperson.
n
n
- Develop knowledge in how to select, set up and install, test, fault-find, repair and maintain electrical systems and equipment in buildings and industrial environments
n
- Nominal term for this qualification is 48 months
n
- At Western Power – an apprentice electrician holds the same qualification as a household electrician; however, they typically work in substations and other network assets
n

What makes me a suitable candidate for Western Power apprenticeships?
n
* due to the nature of these apprenticeships. It is highly desirable for candidates to have obtained Cert II in Engineering foundations | Electrotechnology prior to applying*
n
n
- Must be 18 years or older to apply for these positions
n
- Have obtained a "C" class drivers license
n
- Have completed minimum of Year 10 secondary education with English and Mathematics skills (depending on your apprenticeship)
n
- Be physically fit and carry the ability to lift heavy equipment
n
- Be willing to complete a pre‐employment medical assessment
n
- Be willing to/have obtained a range of high‐risk licensing
n
- Be willing to work shift consisting of a 75‐hour fortnight (overtime may be applicable, roster days off applicable)
n
- Be willing to work and travel in remote locations pending on your work rotations, including travelling to attend TAFE and external training courses
n
