About the Role
Canberra Grammar School is seeking an engaging and innovativeDesign and Technology Teacher to join our Senior School for aone-term parental leave position commencing in Term 1, 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity to bring technology and creativeproblem-solving to life. You will encourage students to exploreideas, experiment with emerging technologies and develop theconfidence to turn concepts into practical solutions.
The successful candidate will ideally be able to teach acrossareas including Digital Technologies, Applied InformationTechnology, computer-aided design, robotics and coding. Whether youare an experienced educator or an emerging teacher with strongpotential, you will be supported by a knowledgeable andcollaborative team committed to excellent teaching andlearning.
Teaching at CGS extends beyond the classroom. Our teachers knowtheir students as individuals, contribute to pastoral care throughthe Student House system and participate in the broaderco-curricular and community life of the School. The positiontherefore includes teaching, pastoral and co-curricularresponsibilities, with some out-of-hours commitments across theSchool calendar.
About You
You are a creative, curious and collaborative educator whoenjoys helping students understand how technology can be used tosolve problems, express ideas and shape the future.
You combine strong subject knowledge with the ability to makelearning practical, relevant and memorable. You establish highexpectations while creating an inclusive classroom where studentsfeel confident to experiment, learn from setbacks and challengethemselves.
You will demonstrate:
- subject expertise appropriate to teaching Design andTechnology across the secondary years;
- the ability to teach Digital Technologies and AppliedInformation Technology, including areas such as:
- computer-aided design;
- robotics;
- coding; and
- digital technologies.
- knowledge of coding and, ideally, experience teachingit;
- the capacity to engage students across a broad range ofages, abilities and learning needs;
- effective use of assessment, feedback and data to advancestudent learning;
- a genuine commitment to pastoral care, co-curricularparticipation and the broader life of the School;
- excellent written and verbal communication skills; and
- strong technological literacy.
Experience in any of the following would be highly regarded:
- teaching within the IB Middle Years Programme, IB DiplomaProgramme or NSW HSC;
- contributing to technology-based enrichment, competitionsor extension programmes;
- supporting co-curricular, outdoor education or serviceactivities; or
- postgraduate study or scholarship in a relevant disciplineor in education.

All teachers at CGS are required to hold:
- a relevant tertiary degree and recognised teachingqualification;
- current ACT teacher registration through the ACT TeacherQuality Institute;
- a valid ACT Working with Vulnerable Peopleregistration;
- HLTAID009 – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation andHLTAID011 – Provide First Aid, or a willingness to obtainthem;
- a current National Police Check; and
- full working rights in Australia.
