Job Description

- Partner with the business to provide environmental regulatory, compliance and assurance advice, expertise and support
n
- Deliver environmental governance, regulatory compliance and risk-based assurance outcomes supporting business objectives
n
- Provide environmental subject matter expertise, regulatory guidance, governance support and assurance activities
n
- Support management of environmental risks and Commonwealth, State and Local Government obligations
n
- Support digital technologies, data analytics, artificial intelligence and automation for environmental reporting, compliance monitoring, assurance and risk management
n
- Monitor environmental performance and support sites in managing environmental risks and obligations
n
- Advise on environmental legislation, regulatory requirements and corporate compliance obligations, including NGER and AICIS
n
- Support regulatory reporting and compliance reviews
n
- Strengthen first-line environmental compliance, risk management and assurance practices with sites and HSE teams
n
- Maintain and continually improve the Thales Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001 requirements
n
- Develop and implement environmental processes, procedures and controls
n
- Develop and maintain environmental reporting, dashboards and performance analytics
n
- Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance through digital technologies, automation and AI-enabled tools
n
- Engage with regulators, auditors, government agencies and external stakeholders as required
n
- Present environmental performance, compliance status and assurance outcomes
n
- Translate environmental and sustainability data into meaningful insights and business decisions
n

Requirements





n

n
- Ideally have AQF level 7 qualifications in environmental science or management (or similar)
n
- Ideally have 5-7 years' demonstrated environmental background with knowledge of Australian environmental legislation, regulatory compliance frameworks and environmental management systems, preferably within industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure or defence-related operations
n
- Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining ISO 14001 certified management systems
n
- Experience managing regulatory obligations including NGER, AICIS and environmental licensing requirements
n
- Proven ability to develop and execute risk-based assurance and audit programs
n
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and identify trends
n
- Experience developing performance dashboards and environmental reporting systems
n
- Demonstrated interest in, and application of, emerging technologies, automation, AI-enabled solutions and digital transformation initiatives
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills across all organisational levels
n
- Ability to work independently while effectively managing competing priorities
n
- ISO14001 auditor qualifications preferred
n
- Lead Auditor qualification highly regarded
n
- A Defence security clearance is required for this role
n




- Applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance
n
- The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and nationality may be a factor in determining suitability
n
