About the Role
The Salvation Army Housing is committed to changing lives by providing safe, affordable housing for people experiencing vulnerability in our communities. We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our Finance team and play a vital role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational success of our housing services. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position works closely with Housing Coordinators, Tenancy Workers, and Regional Managers to provide accurate financial reporting and tenancy transactions.
The role is permanent full-time position based in Blackburn.
Key responsibilities:
- Process tenancy-related transactions including rental receipts, Centrepay payments, bonds, refunds, and welfare payments.
- Validate and approve Accounts Payable transactions for allocated regions.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Prepare month-end journals, reporting, and financial reconciliations.
- Produce accurate monthly financial reports and variance analysis.
- Partner with operational teams and Regional Managers to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
- Prepare budgeting, forecasting, and external audit requirements.
- Contribute to broader finance team activities and continuous process improvement.
About You
This role offers an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys balancing transactional accounting with reporting, analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Capabilities:
- Qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Experience in a Finance, Accounting or Commercial role.
- Strong understanding of reconciliations, accounts payable, and month-end processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
