Salary and Contract

Full time, continuing opportunity. Base Salary $152,045 - $160,430 + 17% superannuation.

About the opportunity

As the Senior Engineer Supervisor: Large Scale Additive Manufacturing, you will lead the operations of the Sydney Manufacturing Hub's (SMH) G08 Large-format Additive Manufacturing Node, a critical research facility supporting cutting-edge research, and industry collaboration. Working closely with the SMH Management Team, researchers, students and industry partners, you will ensure the facility operates efficiently, safely and in alignment with the University's strategic research objectives. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise, operational leadership and industry engagement in a highly visible role. You will oversee specialised equipment and facility operations, provide expert technical support to research programs, drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster partnerships that translate research capability into industry impact.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

- oversee the day-to-day operations of the SMH G08 facility, ensuring services, infrastructure and resources effectively support research and industry related activities
- provide expert technical advice and support to researchers, students and industry partners using advanced manufacturing technologies and equipment
- lead industry engagement initiatives, identify opportunities for collaboration and deliver projects that create value for external partners
- manage facility expenditure, procurement activities and equipment maintenance to ensure effective and sustainable operations
- ensure compliance with work health and safety requirements, risk management processes and relevant legislative obligations
- oversee facility documentation, reporting, data management and security requirements to support operational and regulatory compliance




- provide leadership, coaching and development support to technical staff while contributing to the strategic growth of the Sydney Manufacturing Hub

About you

- postgraduate qualifications in engineering, manufacturing, materials, research infrastructure or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
- demonstrated experience managing research facilities, specialised equipment or advanced technical environments
- working knowledge of additive manufacturing technologies and their research or industry applications
- proven experience leading teams and managing staff performance, capability development and operational outcomes
- strong understanding and practical application of work health and safety requirements within laboratory, manufacturing or research settings
- experience supporting complex research activities, technical programs or specialist engineering projects and engaging with diverse stakeholder groups
- demonstrated ability to manage expenditure, prioritise competing demands and solve complex operational or technical challenges
