ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is an established Australian marine services organisation supporting the delivery of an exciting recent Defence capability.

n

They are looking for an experienced Marine Quality Inspector to join their Sydney team, supporting quality across fabrication, structural, mechanical and marine works.

n

This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with project teams, subcontractors and key stakeholders to ensure work is delivered in accordance with project specifications, quality standards and Defence requirements.

n

To be considered, you must:

n

n
- Be an Australian Citizen and either hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
n
- Come from a fabrication, structural, mechanical and/or marine background.
n
- Have previous QA/QC, quality inspection or similar experience within a relevant industrial environment.
n

n

Applicants who do not meet the Australian Citizenship and industry background requirements will not be considered.

n

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

n

n
- Conduct QA/QC inspections across fabrication, welding, steel structures, piping, mechanical and coating works.
n
- Review and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality procedures and project specifications.
n
- Complete visual inspections and dimensional checks against approved drawings and standards.
n
- Verify incoming materials and maintain material traceability.
n
- Prepare inspection reports, quality records and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
n
- Monitor corrective and preventative actions through to resolution.
n
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors,



project teams and classification societies on quality matters.
n
- Support audits and compliance with ISO 9001 and project quality requirements.
n
- Help drive continuous improvement across project delivery.
n

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED

n

n
- Australian Citizenship is mandatory due to Defence security clearance requirements.
n
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
n
- Previous QA/QC or inspection experience within marine, shipbuilding, fabrication, structural, mechanical, offshore, heavy industry or Defence environments.
n
- A background in fabrication, structural, mechanical and/or marine work is essential.
n
- Certificate III Trade Qualification, Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Marine Engineering, Fabrication, Mechanical or a related discipline.
n
- NACE/AMPP Coating Inspector or ISO 9001 Lead/Internal Auditor qualifications
n
- CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification or equivalent.
n
- Strong understanding of welding, fabrication, coatings and inspection processes.
n
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
n
- Experience managing inspection records and quality documentation.
n
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
n
