About The Opportunity
Across our long day care, out of school hours care and family day care services, our staff are passionate about empowering today’s children to become tomorrow’s future by teaching children to be respectful, resilient and confident in an setting that is accepting, safe and inspiring.
Our Education and Care team are looking for a number of OOSH Educators to join the team! This role is responsible for undertaking the day to day operations of the centre and the Educator OOSH must be committed to educate and nurture children from all communities to be respectful, resilient and confident by providing an environment that is accepting, safe and inspiring.
The role is key in developing key relationships with Education and Care staff, other Council staff, children and their families, and is part of a multidisciplinary team where positive communication is paramount.
Reporting to the Centre Director - OOSH,
this position will also maintain a clean and safe learning environment that nurtures and inspires children to explore and engage in rich, meaningful experiences which allows them to continue to construct their understanding of the world.
The Successful Applicant Will Require
- Relevant qualifications in Early Childhood Education and Care as approved by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA), or working towards completion within 12 months and/or equivalent experience in a similar role.
- Working with Children Check Clearance
- Completion of Child Protection Course CHCPRT025 – Identify and report children and young people at risk or a former valid unit (CHCPRT001)
- Current HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Educational Setting, including asthma and anaphylaxis
- Current HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Completion of NSW Government Food Handler Basics training (or willing to obtain)
- Completion of the National Child Safety Training (Geccko)
- Current class C drivers licence
- Proven skills and experience in the following areas:
- Education and care
- Customer service
- Communication skills in written and oral format
- Computer operating systems
- Effective time management and organisational skills.

About This Role
There are 3 x permanent part-time and 1 x fixed term (up to 12 months) positions on rotating work patterns based on the following Cumberland Council OOSH locations:
- Widemere OOSH - 30 hours per fortnight, working Monday to Friday, with core hours between 7:00am - 6:00pm and will include split shifts.
- Guildford West OOSH - 50 hours per fortnight, working Monday to Friday, with core hours between 7:00am - 6:00pm and will include split shifts (fixed term, up to 12 months).
- Parramatta West OOSH - 20 hours per fortnight, working Monday to Friday, with core hours between 7:00am - 6:00pm and will include split shifts.
- Ringrose OOSH - 50 hours per fortnight, working Monday to Friday, with core hours between 7:00am - 6:00pm and will include split shifts.
Salary information:
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 5 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $34.33 to $42.05 per hour, plus 12% superannuation.
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
- Cumberland City Council has successfully been approved for funding under the Commonwealth Government’s ‘Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Worker Retention Payment
