Senior Business Advisor - Senior Accountant

From $140k plus + super + equity options

Senior Accountant / Business Advisor | $140K-$150K + Super

You've built strong technical expertise in public practice, but you know you have more to offer than preparing accounts and meeting compliance deadlines. You want to sit in front of business owners, understand what is really happening in their businesses and help them make better commercial decisions. This is your opportunity to do exactly that. We are recruiting for a highly regarded, multi-award-winning accounting and advisory firm establishing its next stage of growth in North Brisbane. The firm helps SME owners improve profitability, cash flow, systems and business performance, giving them greater control over both their businesses and their lives. This is not a role where 'advisory' simply means presenting a set of accounts once a year. You'll work closely and consistently with business owners, translating their numbers into practical actions and measurable outcomes.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

- Salary of $140K-$150K plus superannuation
- Genuine long-term career progression
- Employee share scheme opportunity
- Credible pathway towards future ownership
- Direct mentoring from an experienced leadership team
- Training in an established and successful advisory model
- An existing client base and internal support—not a cold start
- The prospect to help shape and grow the firm's North Brisbane presence
- Advisory work grounded in commercial reality, not generic coaching
- A recognised firm with an impressive record of growth, innovation and community contribution
- Early finish at 1pm on Fridays

What You'll Be Doing

Based in the firm's Brendale office, you'll manage and develop relationships with established SME clients, including a number of trade-based businesses.

You'll retain responsibility for important accounting and tax work, but your greatest value will come from helping clients understand what their financial information means and what they need to do next.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, GST and tax-planning work
- Preparing and interpreting management reports
- Leading meaningful financial and commercial conversations with business owners
- Advising clients on profitability, pricing, margins, cash flow, revenue and costs
- Helping clients strengthen their financial controls, systems and overall business performance
- Converting financial information into transparent recommendations, actions and accountability
- Building trusted, long-term relationships with clients
- Attending client meetings and occasional site visits
- Working with the leadership team to strengthen and grow the North Brisbane operation
- Supporting the continued development of the firm's advisory offering

You Don't Need to Be a Business Coach

You don't need to arrive as a fully developed business coach or have all the advisory answers on day one. The firm has an established advisory framework and will train and mentor you in its approach. What you do need is strong public-practice experience, sound commercial judgement and the confidence to engage with business owners. You'll be naturally curious, willing to ask good questions and motivated by seeing clients act on your advice.

What You'll Bring

To be considered,

you will ideally have:

- At least five years' experience in Australian public practice
- Completed CA or CPA qualification
- Experience operating at Manager level, or readiness to step into it
- Strong technical accounting and taxation knowledge
- Confidence preparing and reviewing compliance work
- The ability to interpret financial information commercially
- Strong client-facing, presentation and relationship-building skills
- A proactive, accountable and solutions-focused approach
- Genuine interest in developing your business advisory capability
- Confidence working within a paperless, technology-led environment

Experience with Xero, XPM, FYI, Excel modelling, AI tools and digital workflows will be highly regarded.

More Than Another Senior Accounting Role

The firm has achieved significant national recognition for its accounting expertise, advisory work, leadership and contribution to the community. Its continued expansion reflects the strength of its model and the long-term demand for its services.

The Brendale office is a genuine long-term investment. You'll join an established team with existing colleagues, clients, systems and leadership support already in place, while still having the opportunity to influence how the North Brisbane operation develops.

For someone with the right capability and ambition, the longer-term opportunity may include participation in the employee share scheme and a pathway towards ownership.

Important Practical Details

This is primarily an office-based position located in Brendale, North Brisbane. The role includes client meetings, occasional site visits and some travel. If you want to extend your offering to other locations e.g. the Sunshine Coast or Cairns there is an option for this too.
