This is 1 year contract role, with the possibility of extension.

Mission

The position is responsible for innovation and product development within ingredient portfolio, with an emphasis on bakery applications. This person will also support our extensive customer base in new bakery ingredient development along with new applications of novel ingredient. The role will focus on innovation to help move ingredients from concept to commercialization while collaborating with other sales and admin teams.

Main Accountabilities

- Develop new recipes/processes and modify existing recipes (only as required)
- Research current consumer markets and latest technologies to develop current product concepts
- Research / Source raw materials and other ingredients from preferred suppliers
- Prepare product costings based on raw materials and manufacturing costs to ensure profitable products
- Run trials of new products
- Co‑Ordinate with any customer complaint investigations or product issues
- Compile, check and approve product specifications and labelling
- Design the processes for making products with a consistent flavor, color and texture in large quantities
- Test Bake and approve monthly blended products for sale
- Preferred Knowledge with Foodworks 10 – Data Base ( Nutritional information for recipe/labels )
- Monthly forecast of raw materials and blended finished products
- Support sales staff with new products offering and creating products as per customer requirements
- Educate customers on company products application, training where required
- Develop and implement strategies for assigned customers to achieve the agreed targets and objectives
- Establish strong relationships with directly assigned customers and ensure a high level of technical support to maximise the sales and profitability to Azelis
- Travel to the Pacific Islands as required
- To utilise the CRM and Business Intelligence (BI) systems as part of the daily work process and ensure that all relevant customer, lead, and chance‑related information is captured and actioned.
- To consistently seek and develop business opportunities in the form of new markets, customers, products, and suppliers
- To ensure that all company policies and values are upheld in their entirety and to ensure that the business is represented both professionally and ethically in all dealings both internal and external

Experience, Skills & Education

- 5 years’ experience in industry, i.e. in technical or in commercial role
- Technical background in Baking or similar
- A base knowledge of food fibers, proteins, starches, Hydrocolloids and Texturants
- Self‑motivated to start up new initiatives to generate new business
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Creative to develop new means to generate interest and fill the sales pipeline
- The ability to adapt to new requirements and have a flexible approach
- Highly organized and able to meet principal expectations
- Confident in interacting at all levels within the business – from R&D; to commercial and senior management
- The drive to challenge yourself personally and develop new skills
- The ability to think commercially and deliver results
