Senior Mechanical Engineer Data Centre / AI Infrastructure Sydney

Pearson Carter are currently working with a global leader in sustainable AI infrastructure, developing next-generation data centre solutions designed to improve energy efficiency, scalability, and performance across large-scale AI computing environments.

Due to growth, they are hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support end-to-end design, commissioning, and optimisation of advanced mechanical systems across state-of-the-art AI infrastructure projects.

This role will work across mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, partnering with consultants, contractors, and internal engineering teams to deliver high-performance data centre environments.

Responsibilities

- Lead mechanical design from concept through to commissioning
- Develop engineering documentation, calculations, and technical standards




- Review consultant designs and contractor workshop drawings
- Support equipment selection, procurement, and construction activities
- Participate in site inspections and commissioning of mechanical systems
- Drive optimisation initiatives and continuous improvement
- Mentor junior engineers and support technical development

Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8 years mechanical engineering experience
- 5 years Data Centre MEP experience
- Strong knowledge of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and ASHRAE standards
- Experience with mechanical systems design and commissioning
- Strong problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
- Experience working in complex, multidisciplinary environments

Location

Sydney (with 10-30% travel during project delivery phases)
