Join the expanding Intensive Care Unit at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

We are looking for highly motivated Registered Nurses to join the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital (SCGH) as we expand our service with an additional 10-bed pod.

We have permanent and fixed-term opportunities, with full-time and part-time hours available. Fixed-term appointments may have the possibility of extension and/or permanency.

SCGH Intensive Care is a tertiary referral centre providing care to critically unwell adult patients aged 16 years and over.

Working in our dynamic ICU offers a highly rewarding professional environment, where nurses work alongside doctors, allied health professionals and fellow nurses to provide high-quality specialist critical care.

Our clinical specialties include cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery and liver transplantation, providing nurses with exposure to a diverse range of complex patients and advanced critical care therapies.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will have opportunities to develop your knowledge and clinical skills while building strong professional relationships and contributing to the care of patients with complex and diverse needs.

Our experienced senior nursing team, including Clinical Nurse Specialists and Staff Development Nurses, provides hands‑on clinical support seven days a week as you progress through the department.

We also offer:

- A structured learning and professional development pathway
- Recognition of Prior Learning, acknowledging transferable skills and previous experience
- Opportunities to broaden your knowledge,

clinical skills and scope of practice within the critical care environment
- Ongoing support from an experienced multidisciplinary and senior nursing team

The expansion of SCGH Intensive Care represents an important investment in our health service, providing an additional 10 ICU beds for some of our sickest and most vulnerable patients.

The expanded unit will incorporate state‑of‑the‑art technology, additional clinical space and improved resources to support both our patients and our ICU team.

If you are looking for skilled growth, strong teamwork, ongoing learning and the opportunity to develop within a tertiary critical care environment, SCGH Intensive Care could be the workplace for you.

Who are we looking for?

Previous ICU experience is welcomed but not essential. Our structured development pathway supports Registered Nurses who are transitioning into critical care, while also recognising the skills and experience of nurses who already have an ICU background.

To be considered for an ICU nursing position, you must:

- Have a minimum of 12 months’ experience as a Registered Nurse
- Be available to work part‑time or full‑time on a 24/7 rotating roster
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and career development

Your qualifications and experience tell us part of your story, but your values and approach to patient care are equally important.

We are not offering sponsorship at this time for this opportunity.

At North Metropolitan Health Service, we aim to ensure our behaviours reflect our core values of:

During the selection process, you will be assessed on your ability to fulfil the responsibilities of the position while demonstrating these values.
