We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Operational Nurse Manager – Aged Care & Subacute to provide strong clinical leadership and operational management across our aged care and subacute services.

This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care while supporting staff, clinical governance, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

About The Opportunity

The Operational Nurse Manager is a key senior leadership position within the hospital, reporting operationally to the General Manager and professionally to the Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Wyong. The position is responsible for the effective management, leadership and operational oversight of the Nursing Unit Managers (NUMs) and Clinical Nurse Educators (CNEs) across Aged and Subacute Care services at Wyong, as well as the Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNCs) with District-wide responsibilities. The role also has operational responsibility for the Wyong Medical Day Unit, Outpatients and Vascular Access Service, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient‑centred care across these services.

The Operational Nurse Manager will provide strong clinical and operational leadership, supporting staff and multidisciplinary teams to effectively manage clinical and operational issues and achieve positive patient outcomes. The role will promote a culture of safety, accountability,



continuous improvement and excellence in clinical practice.

As a key leader within the organisation, the position will drive service improvement, innovation and positive cultural change across the services under its leadership. This includes identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, workforce capability, patient flow, access and clinical outcomes while ensuring resources are used effectively and sustainably.

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong analytical, financial, strategic, negotiation and problem‑solving skills, together with the ability to manage complex operational environments and competing priorities.

The role will actively engage with all skilled clinical staff groups and lead the development and implementation of inter‑professional models of care and collaborative ways of working, with a strong focus on patient‑centred care.

You will be accountable for improving patient outcomes, quality and safety, sustainable access to services and integrated health pathways. This will require effective networking and collaboration with colleagues across the District, community services, primary care, allied health, medical services and other key stakeholders.

About You

To be successful in this role,



you will have:

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Significant nursing leadership and management experience, preferably within aged care, subacute or hospital environments.
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, quality and risk management.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
- A strong understanding of person‑centred care and contemporary aged care practice.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and make sound clinical and operational decisions.
- A commitment to supporting staff and achieving positive outcomes for residents and patients.
